April 13, 2001 Paul interview from next week's Entertainment Weekly available in the articles section, photo included. Concerning the possible Playhouse script, Paul says that the middle of the movie is set in a "Wizard of Oz-like made-up land."
April 10, 2001 Paul was on a couple more talk shows last week. I think it was Letterman and Conan. Anyways, he revealed that in the more 'adult-humored' script, PW is a pop singer, whose first album is entitled "Je m'appelle Pee-wee." PW gets brought out to Hollywood to make musical movies, kind of like the Elvis films, and becomes really famous and turns into a monster.
Paul also said that another reason for bringing back Pee-wee is so that he can do PW merchandising that he never got around to making during the 20th century. Examples of new PW merchandise are scents. For women, Eau de Pee-wee; and for men, Pee-wee pour Homme.
March 28, 2001 Last night on Leno, Paul confirmed that he has written two scripts for movies starring Pee-wee Herman. One has more mature humor, and the other is a Playhouse movie. No word, though, on precisely when either will begin production.
November 27, 2000 Recently, TV Guide reported that Paul is working on the script with John Paragon (Jambi the Genie).
